Hand Reflexology

Hand reflexology follows exactly the same principles as foot reflexology in that the human body is reflected in the hands in the same way as it is in the feet. Points/ areas on the hand are also known as reflexes.

By applying pressure to the reflex areas of the hands we can locate blockages and imbalances of the zone pathways thus helping to restore the flow of energy in the body to aid a return to good health.

Hand reflexology is completed in a shorter time then a foot treatment as the area to treat is smaller, usually around 30 minutes.

We, as reflexologists, usually use hand reflexology to give one of two of the hand reflex points to give to our clients as 'homework' to provide beneficial effects to them between treatments; or we use a few points to supplement the work done on the feet.

Other reasons why we would use hand reflexology include: client preference, an injured foot, clients feet are too sensitive or if access to the feet is too difficult.

In the same way as we can analyse the feet, we can also analyse the hands and this may give us an indication of the client's imbalances. Hand analysis has been practised by many ancient people from far back in history, most importantly the Chinese and Indians. In Chinese hand analysis, the length and size of the fingers are looked at as these often indicate the person's characteristic traits such as how they communicate with others or whether they accept responsibility. Some indicators we see, are fairly obvious such as poor colour to the the hands could indicate poor nerve and blood supply or rings on the fingers can often block energies if they are too tight.

Why not give hand reflexology a try and see what differences you feel from foot reflexology?
